History of Century class Trucks

The FREIGHTLINER Century Trucks Driver's Manual PDF above the page.

The Freightliner Century Class main truck, which began production in the United States in 1995, is the successor to the Freightliner FLD.

The bonnet truck was offered with various cab options, differing in the size of the sleeping compartment. In 1999, the truck was modernized: it received, for example, improved sound insulation and a driver's airbag.

At the Freightliner Century Class, in-line six-cylinder turbodiesels Cummins, Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel were installed. The main transmission is a mechanical unsynchronized gearbox with a robotic shift system.

After restyling in 2003, the truck received a new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine Mercedes-Benz with a volume of 12.8 liters of Brazilian production. Then the company refused to install Cummins engines.

In 2010, the production of cars for the American market was completed, it was replaced by the Cascadia model.

The Freightliner Century Class continues to be made in Australia. Machines for the local market are equipped with a 12.8 liter Detroit Diesel (457 hp) diesel engine and can have 2 or 3 axles.
